Typical process
Cosmetics surplus stock with best-before dates
Sealed cosmetics with a limited shelf life: batch numbers and best-before dates decide how quickly the lot needs to move.
A typical process for orientation, not a customer project. Quantities, condition and timing differ from lot to lot.
Starting point
A distributor has sealed cosmetics and hair care products in original packaging left over after a range change. The goods are fully saleable, but their remaining shelf life is running down, so time matters.
A typical lot
- Hair colours and hair care in sealed packaging
- Cosmetics and personal care products
- Different batches with different best-before dates
- Unopened goods in original packaging

How the process runs
- 01
Enquiry with dates and batches
The distributor lists the products with best-before dates and batch numbers, describes how they have been stored and sends photos of the packaging.
- 02
Valuation and offer
A non-binding valuation follows within 24 hours; the remaining shelf life is a key factor. The agreed price is put in writing.
- 03
Payment after invoice
Payment is made by bank transfer within 48 hours of invoicing.
- 04
Early collection
Collection is arranged within 3 working days of the agreement, with transport included. Because shelf life is limited, the date is fixed early.
What matters
- Give the best-before date and batch for every item. It determines how well the goods can be resold.
- Only sealed original goods are suitable.
- Describe how the goods have been stored.
- Act early: the shorter the remaining shelf life, the narrower the options.
Questions about this scenario
